Nevada State College has a department of visual media and computing and the University of Nevada offers majors in film and theatre. The Community College of Southern Nevada features schools of communication and performing arts. The broadcasting industry and related fields in Las Vegas have an incredibly good outlook. Between 2002 and 2012, radio and television broadcasting industries are projected to rise a total of 36.4%, and add a total of 549 jobs, coming to employ a total of 2,057 workers. The Internet broadcasting sector should rise a total of 45.3% over that time, and performing arts, spectator sports, and related industries should increase by 2.4% every year and add 835 jobs to employ a total of almost 4,000 workers.

Why Las Vegas is a Great Place to Study Broadcasting

Las Vegas makes a great location for a broadcasting education or career, and certainly a unique one. Las Vegas features 47 AM and FM radio stations and 21 television stations from all the major networks, including ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, and PBS. Broadcasting opportunities and shows unique to the city provide an array of interesting options for those trained in broadcasting-related fields. For example, television shows set in Las Vegas include: CSI: Crime Scene Investigation- Las Vegas, The Casino, Vega$, several Fear Factor episodes, and the aptly named Las Vegas on NBC.
