There is a plethora of programs for culinary students from colleges and schools in the Las Vegas area. The Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts offers study in appetizers, baking, hotel and hospitality management, meats, nutrition, pastries, menu planning, dining room service, costing, catering, cooking, sanitation, recreational cooking, and much much more—basically anything a chef could need or want to know. The Creative Cooking School of Las Vegas offers programs in barbecue, basic food production, cake decorating, Chinese, chocolates, food styling, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mexican, pizza making, Vegan, etc., and the University of Nevada’s Harrah Hotel College teaches culinary arts, food/beverage management, and restaurant management.
The culinary industry in Las Vegas is strong and growing, and entertaining a very good outlook. The Accommodation and Food Services umbrella of occupations currently employs about 260,000 workers! Between 2002 and 2012, a projected 49.9% increase should occur in the industry, and 110,174 new jobs should be created in the Las Vegas area. To summarize, outlook for chefs in Vegas couldn’t be better!
