Students have a few choices for pursuing a foreign language degree or ESL degree in Las Vegas. The University of Nevada offers programs in foreign languages, French, German, Spanish, and romance languages. For those interested in studying eight hours to the north, the University of Nevada - Reno offers programs in English teacher, foreign languages, foreign language teacher, French, German, and Spanish.

The future employment outlook for Las Vegas is excellent. The overall employment rate is expected to increase by 41% through the year 2012. During this time, job opportunities for interpreters and translators will increase by 46%. Employment opportunities for bilingual, foreign language and ESL teachers will increase by 40% on the elementary level and 48% on the secondary levels.

Why Las Vegas is a Great Place to Study Language

Las Vegas is a city that is home to a wide variety of cultures with a high percentage of the population born outside the United States. Approximately 30% of the city’s residents are foreign born. The diversity of the city makes Las Vegas a great place to prepare for a foreign language career. The relatively large non-English speaking population has resulted in the need for more interpreters and bilingual educators, which gives students many employment prospects after college. Students will experience many different languages and cultures living in this area.
