There are several nursing education options in Las Vegas. An associate of applied science in nursing degree program, which includes classroom instruction and clinical practice in adult health nursing, family health nursing and mental health nursing, is available from the Community College of Southern Nevada. Another option is the University of Nevada – Las Vegas School of Nursing. BSN programs, associate degrees and diploma programs are offered by Nevada State College.
There’s urgent demand for nurses in the Las Vegas area. The Nevada Department of Employment, Training & Rehabilitation projects that registered nursing jobs in Las Vegas will grow at an annual rate of 4.5% through 2012, while licensed practical and vocational nursing jobs will grow 3.4% annually. At those rates, the change in registered nursing jobs between 2000 and 2012 will be a whopping 55.7%, with a 39.5% change projected for licensed practical and vocational nursing positions.
