Las Vegas is an attractive place to study and practice veterinary medicine. Each year more than 8,000 veterinary professionals and technicians gather in Las Vegas for the Western Veterinary Conference, one of the largest assemblies of animal health professionals in the world. And while Nevada lacks a doctoral level veterinary school, the state will pay 75% of the non-resident tuition fees when a Nevada resident attends one of four regional colleges of veterinary medicine: University of California, Davis, Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Washington State University, or Oregon State University. Students accepting state funds for veterinary school must return to Nevada to practice veterinary medicine for at least four years, an appealing arrangement for veterinarians wanting to live and work in Las Vegas, particularly in light of a major upswing in forecasted job growth. |
